Lady Liberty and the Church

I would like to challenge you children of God (not too hard a challenge though!).

What comparisons can be drawn between the Statue of Liberty and the Church, as an individual and corporately?

My next post, I'll answer all I know. I hope you'll catch me with some I haven't thought of!

I still need to think on this some more but the obvious comparisons are (1)the torch, and our lights as christians, should both be held high for all the world to see (2)People from all over the world recognize the statue of liberty as a symbol of hope for the needy, the torn, hopeless, and those seeking refuge, as should we the church be for the lost.

Yes! I only thought of four, so if you can come up with more or anyone add to it, great!

She stands in the face of hardship and obstacle. When the odds seem against us, or things look hopeless, she represents the relentless stoicism of our nation.

After 9/11 two things stood out to people, The statue of Liberty, and The Church. They are both towers of strenghth in hard times.
