Here's What I Found!

I looked up scriptures to back up what I thought of. My friends Anna & Steph came through - thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

The Statue of Liberty is a woman.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her... "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.(Ephesians 5;25,31-32)

Lady Liberty stands for freedom.
"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)
"it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:46c-47)

She carries a lit torch.
"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamppost, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16)

In the poem written by Emma Lazaruz concerning the Statue of Liberty in "The New Colossus" she says of her:
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretch refuse of your teeming shore; send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD" (Luke 4:18-19)
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God." (2 Corinthians 5:20)
For you see your calling brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. (1 Corinthians 1:26-29)

Lady Liberty stands!
...And having done all, to stand. Stand therefore... (Ephesians 6:13c-14a)

Be blessed!

Thanks Steph. The Lord puts this stuff in my head, it rolls around a while, then sometimes it comes out. Have a peaceful week.
